Tours are subject to a 48 hour cancellation policy. (some exceptions apply). No refunds will be provided within 48 hours of tour time.Ticket sales are non refundable. We reserve the right to cancel due to bad weather, insufficient numbers or for any reason. Prices are subject to change without notice. A release of liability must be signed prior to any activity. Please refer to the booking confirmation for specific weight and age restrictions for your tour. Banff Adventures Unlimited & Hydra River Guides cannot be held liable for any injuries, losses or damages in any such way.
2 days and 1 night at the backcountry Sundance Lodge. Includes 1x western breakfast (day 2), 2x trailside lunches (day 1 & 2) and 1x dinner (day 1).
Minimum age to participate is 9 years old and maximum weight restriction per guest is 230lbs. Please arrive 30 minutes prior to your scheduled tour time. All participants are required to sign a waiver.
Day 1: Riders meet at 9:00 am at Warner Stables. Make your way to our backcountry check in area in the large barn. For those with a vehicle, free parking is available at the stables for the duration of the trip. Here you will meet your fellow riders and your guides for your trip. Slickers and saddle bags will be handed out if required and you will have time to organize your gear and ask any questions you may have. Your guides will then introduce you to your horses which have been specifically picked for you. Once you are comfortable you will mount up for the ten mile ride to Sundance Lodge via the glacier-fed waters of the Bow River, Healy and Brewster Creeks. Half way to the lodge you will stop and enjoy a hot lunch by the Bow River. After lunch we will continue along the trail into Sundance Lodge. Your lodge host awaits you. Settle into your room and freshen up, then join your fellow riders around the fire or on the deck to swap stories of your ride in.
Day 2: After a relaxing evening at Sundance Lodge riders mount back up for a second full day in the saddle and return to Warner Stables at approx. 4:30pm. A quick getaway to the backcountry for those without a lot of time on their hands!
- Comfortable clothing, rain gear and closed toe shoes, we recommend bringing a warm layer as Mountain weather is unpredictable and can change instantly. Ponchos are restricted.
- Extra snacks and water you may want to have with you
- Toiletries (toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, towel, etc.)
- Flashlight and batteries
- Sun protection
- Your camera
Maximum 1 rider per horse - no doubling up
Maximum weight restriction is 230lbs per rider
Children must be over 9 years of age to participate
There is no electricity at our lodges, nor cell phone service
Prices include Parks Wilderness Pass Fees and Tourism Levy Fee
There is a 14 day cancellation period for all backcountry lodge trips
Luggage max weight restriction per person is 30lbs - backpacks are not allowed
Alcohol is to be purchased at the lodge - Credit Cards will be accepted at time of purchase.
Driving Directions to Warner Stables
From Banff: Conveniently located a short 5-10 minute drive or 15 minute walk from downtown
- Head south on Banff Avenue and cross the Bow River Bridge
- Turn right on to Cave Avenue
- Travel straight and turn right onto Sundance Road (3rd right). There will be a sign for Warner Stables and free parking
